Report from 2024 course planners
What an excellent area to spend your Autumn, Winter and Spring in – although, up until the week before the event, we were still experiencing mainly Winter. Soft running and gentle slopes, moving out into proper rocky peaks and ridges – this area gives something to everyone with some spectacular views. There was just enough distance to get the shorter courses back from the overnight camp, with a wild and lesser-known area to the South to send the longer courses to enjoy, and the ridge structure provides lots of options on the Fairfield course.
As always, it has been a pleasure to work with Dan and Karen Parker the controllers and race directors. They are always knowledgeable, tactful, inciteful and kind, and we’ve drunk a lot of tea as all four of us crowded around a big screen developing the courses together. Checking control sites, jiggling locations to improve routes, winning times and route choice, checking legs and approaches and running routes has been the best reason to get out the door and into the hills and we are grateful to have been given the opportunity to plan again.
See you on 5/6th July 2025
